TUANIS CHAIR
The Tuanis Chair is designed to allow the user to delight in an elevated and stylish lounging experience. It is a piece of furniture that introduces a tropical feeling to a living space. The word “Tuanis” in Costa Rica means cool. The chair is made of high quality Costa Rican teak wood. It is a beautiful and unique statement piece that brings beauty into any space.
SANTO KATRIN
Santo Katrin is a restaurant in Costa Rica that offers fine Mexican dining in the popular and urban MultiPlaza shopping centre of the city of Escazu. The vision for the design was to create a restaurant that pays homage to Mexican culture and more specifically “Día de los Muertos” which translated to English means “Day of the Dead”. This is a revered Mexican holiday that celebrates the dead and is a very strong part of the culture. In order to do this we had to create unique furniture elements that were playful in nature such as these chairs with colourful woven backs.
ARENAS DEL MAR
Arenas del Mar is a luxury five-star beach front resort in Costa Rica. It is located in the ever-popular tourist attraction, The Manuel Antonio National Park. The scope of this project included rejuvenating and modernizing the look and feel of the pool area, reception, and bar. One of the main features that KMD Group was involved in was designing a custom swing. This swing has become a popular attraction at the resort with guests favouring it for their social media photos and thus giving it an iconic status.
EUNOIA
This yoga and meditation centre is all about clarity, peace of mind and tranquility. It is for these reasons that we needed to have a neutral and clean design for the interior. KMD Group did this by sticking with a simple colour palette for the interior. A few times however, pops of colour were used only for details. It is a simple and contemporary interior design that is balanced by the use of wood textures which were included in order to add warmth to the space. Our furniture design for the space involved utilizing interesting shapes to juxtapose against the clean design of the space. This provides a feeling of both simplicity and customization.
